LENTIL STEW

Lentil stew made to Grandma’s recipe

Lentil stew

A hearty and delicious lentil stew. My grandmother always used to make it with Vienna sausages. Lentil stew is really easy to make, and it tastes even better the next day.

Everyone has their own recipe for this too. Lentil stew is an absolute classic.
Ingredients

500 g lentils
1 onion
1 large potato
2 carrots
200 g bacon in one piece
4 pairs of Vienna sausages
1 clove of garlic
5 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp parsley
1/2 sweet paprika powder
100 ml white wine
Salt
Water
Information

Persons: 4
Preparation time: approx. 1.5 hours
Difficulty: Very easy
Preparation

Step 1:

Soak the lentils in water for at least 12 hours. Then transfer them to a sieve, rinse under running water and leave to drain.

Step 2:

Place the lentils in a large saucepan and top up with water until they are well covered.

Step 3:

Peel and quarter the onion. Peel and crush the garlic. Peel and slice the carrots, and peel and dice the potato. You can slice the Vienna sausages into slices about 1 cm thick or add them whole at the end.

Step 4:

Add all the ingredients and the piece of bacon to the lentils and bring to the boil.

Step 5:

Boil for about 5 minutes on a high heat. Then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 50–60 minutes (depending on the lentils). Season with salt to taste. Add the Vienna sausages right at the end. Done!
